ARE WE EVER READY ?
A SHORT DVAR TORAH & POEM FOR SHAVUOT & SHABBAT
Chevrah, Brothers, Sisters
Hoping this finds all of you and yours safe and well. May Hashem continue to protect all of us and may Hashem protect our Defenders wherever they may be and may HY”D.
Depending on where you are on this globe of ours this Shabbat will either be enhanced by the Torah portion of Parshas Naso or for those of us who reside other than in our Homeland of Israel we will celebrate the Chag of Shavuot. And because there is much to do and think about before this Holiday in which we celebrate and commemorate THE Revelation, at Sinai this missive will be short.
It would be unfair to assume that there are others that have experienced and heard what i have had throughout my life with regard to the Holiday of Shavuot but once i mention it maybe others can relate. Not only throughout my younger years but even as i aged people would ask the same question preceding and leading up to the Chag wherein we try to relive ‘Kabalas HaTorah’, the acceptance of what is represented by the Revelation at Sinai. It is THE Watershed event of not only Jewish History but every history contained within the environs of the Western Civilization. And we were taught that each year we were supposed to make ourselves ‘ready’ for this acceptance and imagine we ‘are’ standing at Since. Hence, we were always asked : “Are you ready ?”.A bit of experience has taught me that perhaps the question should be changed to :Are we or can we ever be ready ? For if we are ready that means our journey is over. There is nothing else or more to prepare for. Perhaps the poem below can explain it better.
Chag Sameach ALL. Have a Lichtige Shabbos ALL. Love to ALL> And as always may Hashem protect and guide us ALL and our Defenders wherever they may be and may HY”D>
ARE WE EVER READY ?
Remember when our life was all wonder
When the universe was ours to ponder.
Each corner’s turn brought an adventure
Our thoughts knew no fear of censure.
We matured and learned to explore
Experiencing knowledge & more
Each step whether backwards or fore
Taught that we never are ready - we endure.
